Featured Poet: Kim Stafford, Poet Laureate will read at the Frank Lloyd Wright's Gordon House, 7-8:30 pm. Come early for good seating.

February 16th-
Favorite Poem Project: at Silver Falls Library. Reading from 10:30-11:30 am. Bring your favorite poem to read and share a story about the personal meaning to you. Light refreshments served.

February 16th-
Open Mic: at Silver Falls Library. Reading from 11:45 - 1:00pm. Bring your original poems to read or come to be inspired by the reading!

February 16th- 
Poetry Workshop: Silver Falls Library. 2:30- 4:45 pm. Facilitated by Steve Slemenda. (Description to follow.)  Free. To reserve a space or for more information, call 503.269.7895.  Limited space for 20 participants. Bring pen and paper. Light refreshments served.

February 16th-
Translations & Approximationsat the Bistro, 201 E. Main Street Upstairs.  7 - 8:30 pm.  

Tonight we feature a two-part program. 

lPoets will present an English language poem, translated into Arabic & Spanish. A discussion will follow on the choices and challenges of translation. 

2. Students from the Oregon School of the Deaf will present poetry translated into American Sign language. Oral Interpretation will be provided.

Refreshments served.

February 17th-
Feast of Poets: Mt. Angel Abbey Library Auditorium. 1:30 - 3:30 pm
Featured poets: Paulann Peterson, Lawson Inada, both former Oregon Poet Laureates, and highly esteemed poet Clemens Starck will read and share their writing wisdom as long-standing poets. A culinary feast will follow to conclude the 19th Annual Silverton Poetry Festival.

Donations are accepted and all events are free.

You are invited to a poetry reading November 3rd, Saturday afternoon, at the Creekside Grill, 3-5 pm-- to hear outstanding poets of the past, live!

        Ekphrastic Poetry Reading
May 12th, 2018
Saturday 1-3:30pm
at the Lunaria Gallery
Steve Slemenda, a co-founder of the Silverton Poetry Association and a poetry instructor for many years at Chemeketa Community College, will give a short presentation and lead a discussion on Ekphrastic Poems (poems inspired by or otherwise derived from paintings). Examples of both paintings and related poems will be provided. The event will conclude with audience participation in drafting a poem springing from contemplation of a work by a local artist.
